Botanical Marks
Saturday 9th May — Botanical Marks
with Cathy Franzi
Join our Sgraffito masterclass with the wonderful @cathy_franzi
Learn to carve Australian flora into clay with nuance, intention and beauty.
In this workshop you’ll learn to ‘draw’ on clay using a rich range of textural imagery techniques — carving, sgraffito, incising, impressing, slip and ink inlay, stencils, sponge stamping, and slip trailing.
You’ll practice each technique on slab tiles while exploring mark-making and composition from multiple angles, building confidence and curiosity as you go.
Perfect for beginners drawn to the materiality of clay, and equally valuable for experienced makers wanting to broaden and refine their surface-decoration skills.
A beautifully hands-on, creative deep dive into the endless possibilities of clay.
Dr Cathy Franzi is an acclaimed ceramic artist whose work explores the connection between Australian flora, environmental knowledge, and clay. An experienced tutor,
Her work is held in major public collections both nationally and internationally, and in 2025 she was awarded the Lanyon Art Prize. Cathy is represented by Sabbia Gallery in Sydney.
A remarkable artist, a generous teacher, and an inspiring guide for this workshop.

Spirit Animal
Saturday 20 June — Sculpt Your Spirit Animal
With the amazing @madi.luschwitz.artist
What’s Your Spirit Animal?
Join the incredibly talented Madi Luschwitz for a soulful, creative full-day workshop exploring the idea of the spirit animal through clay.
Madi is known for her intuitive, expressive approach to making — her work is playful yet deeply considered, full of character, warmth and quiet story.
Drawing on a strong connection to nature, animals and inner symbolism, she has a beautiful way of guiding people to create from instinct rather than perfection. Her teaching style is generous, calming and encouraging, making this workshop accessible for beginners while still rich and inspiring for experienced makers.
Throughout the day, Madi will gently lead you through reflection, sketching and hands-on clay work to uncover and bring to life your own spirit animal. You’ll explore form, texture and expression, learning how small details can give personality and meaning to your piece. This is less about rules and more about listening — to the clay, to yourself, and to the stories that emerge as you work.
Expect a relaxed, nurturing atmosphere, time to slow down, connect, and create something deeply personal. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind clay spirit animal and a sense of grounding, joy and creative confidence.
A truly special day of making, meaning and magic 🐾
If you’d like it more mystical, more playful, or shorter for socials, just say the word and I’ll tweak it to suit.
A soulful, hands-on sculpting day where you’ll bring your inner creature to life.
Cost: $175

Patterns of Nature
Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 September — Patterns of Nature
A 2-day nerikomi immersion with the extraordinary @townsendjosephine
Step into the wild side of pattern-making with our Nerikomi Workshop — where colour, clay, and a little bit of chaos collide.
Guided by the incredible Josephine Townsend, you’ll dive hands-first into the hypnotic world of hand-built pattern work.
Forget polite pottery: this is clay sliced, stacked, pressed, stretched, revealed. Lines twist, colours ripple, and every cut exposes a secret hiding inside the block. It’s addictive, it’s rebellious, and it’s ridiculously satisfying.
Josephine’s work is all about touch — curves that lure you in, surfaces that beg to be held, patterns that echo roots, rivers, flames and flickers in nature. She brings that same raw energy into the studio, inviting you to follow the flow, embrace the unexpected, and make pieces that feel alive.
If you’re ready to experiment, break a few rules, and walk away with work that turns heads and starts conversations… this one’s for you.
Come play with clay the unruly way. Nerikomi, but make it bold.
Dive deep into colour, pattern and form in this rare extended workshop.
Cost: $395
