MUD ceramics little bowls

Welcome to MUD Ceramics — where earth meets fire, and wild things are made by hand.

This isn’t your average pottery studio. At MUD, we dig deeper — literally. Based in Wason street, Milton, and reaching into the forests of Termeil and the coastline of Ulladulla, we go beyond the wheel. We go into the wild.

We’re a creative collective for the clay-obsessed, the nature-rooted, and the curious rebels who aren’t afraid to get dirty in the pursuit of something real. We don’t just make pots. We gather, grind, burn, and birth them from the land itself.

WILD POTTERY, RAW FIRE, ANCIENT WISDOM
Our immersive courses aren’t just about learning how to make — they’re about remembering how to belong. We forage clay from creeks, harvest plants from the bush, and build fires the old way. In our Wild Clay, Glaze Making, and Hand Building workshops, you won’t just shape clay — you’ll reshape your connection to the natural world.

These are skills your ancestors knew by heart — we’re just helping you find your way back.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Hands on. Feet grounded. Heart open.
We believe in the healing power of mud and making. Our practice is sensory, slow, and sustainable. In a world obsessed with speed and polish, we choose to walk barefoot, carve slowly, and fire with purpose.

OUR MISSION
To make wild, beautiful things — and help others do the same. Every piece is a quiet revolution. A reminder that art doesn’t have to be perfect — it just has to be honest.

ABOUT SUE
Hi, I’m Sue. My practice is raw and relational — a conversation between my hands and the wild materials I forage from the coastline and forests of Yuin Country. From beach clay to banksia pods, I shape what I gather and let it shape me in return. It’s a slow, cyclical process: gather, grind, mould, fire, return. The earth gives. I respond.

CLASSES + WORKSHOPS
Come as you are. Leave with dirt under your nails and something beautiful in your hands. We offer:

  • Hand Building: Pinch, coil, and slab your way to sculptural magic.

  • Wild Clay + Glaze: Forage, process, and play with raw materials.

  • Firing Techniques: Kiln-fired or pit-fired, you'll learn to read flame and temperature like an ancient language.

STUDIO MEMBERSHIPS
For the diehards, the dreamers, and the everyday makers — our studio memberships give you access to everything you need to go deeper: wheels, kilns, tools, glazes, local clays, and even our offsite firing space. Plus, sweet perks like discounts and exclusive events.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
We don’t just make pots — we make connections.

  • Open Studio Nights – BYO wine, wild ideas, and let it flow.

  • Gallery Space – See what our hands and hearts have made.

  • Collaborative Projects – We build big, beautiful things — together.

SUSTAINABILITY, ALWAYS
We only take what we can give back. Clay is a gift, and we treat it as such — recycling, reusing, firing smart, and always questioning how we can do better for the land that sustains us.

VISIT US
Whether you’re craving a fresh creative outlet or a deeper bond with the earth, MUD Ceramics has a place for you. Visit us in Milton. Come forage with us in the forest. Take a class. Start a fire. Make something real.

Because here at MUD, we don’t just teach pottery.
We teach connection. We teach reverence. We teach getting gloriously lost in the mud.

We honour and pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we gather, clay, and create — and to Elders past, present, and emerging. This land holds stories far older than ours. We walk gently in its presence.
