Service Description

Patterns of Nature: Nerikomi with Josephine Townsend We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome the extraordinary Josephine Townsend to MUD Ceramics in January for a 2 day Nerikomi Workshop. Josephine’s work is made to be felt as much as seen — sculptural and functional forms that beg for fingertips, holding light, shadow, and story in every curve. Her surfaces ripple with carved rhythms inspired by the way patterns echo through the natural world: tree roots branching like rivulets, flames dividing like branches, movement repeating itself in quiet poetry. Josephine makes with the same energy she sees in water: wind-swept textures, calm pools, shifting currents. Soft greens, watery blues and creamy whites feature in her pieces like sky mirrored on a lake. Clay, for her, is endless possibility — a way to fold art into the everyday, colour into form, gesture into something you can hold. Join us in January for this rare opportunity to learn the art of Nerikomi under her generous, imaginative guidance. Spaces will disappear quickly — and you’ll want to be there.
